We understand that it's difficult to engage in a project without clear price and time limits. On the other hand, project requirements change a great deal during the development process. To gain maximum flexibility and maintain a control of your budget and deadlines, we provide you with a rough estimate of development time and budget at the outset and we show you how change in project requirements affect estimates, so you can always adjust your requirements as we go.

We've noticed that the first stage of most projects takes about 2-3 months and if less, there is probably room for more features. If it takes more, it can be a sign of feature bloat and it may be better to reduce your feature set to speed up your time to market and get more user feedback before implementing all your "must have" features.

Short Iterations

Our development cycle is to come together and plan ahead for 1 to 2 weeks of "user stories" implement, deliver and repeat. This yields great flexibility to steer and adjust features to changing requirements, pausing development to refine concepts and release often. Each time a story is completed and marked as "Test" in the tracker, it is deployed to a test server where you can go and play with it to see if the result is achieved and mark it as "Complete" in the tracker. If not, you mark it as "Rejected" and we will continue to fine-tune it.

Quality Acceptance

We urge our clients to perform acceptance testing themselves as a great way to really see progress and sometimes seeing the feature in a realistic way may inspire some great new ideas. Each story is automatically tested before it is committed to the source repository.

Break down the required feature list into user-visible chunks of work

We will work with you to break down the feature list into small, user-visible chunks of work. Some people call them stories, others scenarios. These stories are the basic units of our development process. Each story describes a complete feature from the user's point of view, such as

"Users can activate their invitation by clicking on a link [invite link]. A link to the invitation page will be sent to the user via email."

Stories keep the process focused on customer value and enable everyone to track progress.

Stories are combined into iterations. Each iteration takes 2 weeks. After each iteration, the project is in a stable, tested state, and ready for production deployment.

We use Assembla (developed by our friends at Assembla.com) for Agile team software development. It enables you to track a project's progress, track issues, document knowledge, manage code/IP, prioritize stories and change iterations according to your current needs.
